On May 8th, 2020 Governor Reeves signed Executive Order 1481 by which certain businesses were given authority to open (pending municipal approval) under certain health and safety guidelines.

​Whether your business is fully operational or you are considering a reopening, COVID-19 has changed the landscape of health and safety in the business settinThe Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued guidance for employers to reduce exposure to COVID-19.

The guidance can be broken down into a several step process:

1. DEVELOP AND INFECTIOUS DISEASE RESPONSE PLAN

  1. Identify potential sources of COVID-19 exposure
  2. Consider each employee’s risk factor.

2. PREPARE INFECTION PREVENTION MEASURES

  1. Require frequent handwashing from employees
  2. Provide hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content
  3. Encourage sick employees to stay home.
  4. Provide no touch alternatives for payment, viewing menus, trash can receptacles
  5. Establish flexible schedules or alternative work sites if possible

3. IMPLEMENT WORKPLACE CONTROLS

  1. Install high efficiency air filters and increase ventilation
  2. Create physical barriers or utilize drive thru windows
  3. Post handwashing signs
  4. Provide employees with education, training, and procedures regarding COVID-19.

4. PROVIDE PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) TO EMPLOYEES BASED ON OSHA EXPOSURE RISK FACTORS
